GOVERNMENT K.N.M ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE,KANJIRAMKULAM REPORT VAYANA PAKSHARANAM FROM 19TH JUNE TO 7TH JULY 2021 


 Government K.N.M Arts and Science College, Kanjiramkulam observed VAYANA PAKSHARANAM by organising different programmes from 19th June to 7th July 2021.The college council selected Dr.Predeepa kumari.R, HoD Hindi as the Co-ordinator and Dr. Joy B., HoD History as the Cocoordinator of the programme. 


VAYANA PAKSHACHARANAM commenced with a talk on (Nalla Vayana) GOOD READING on 19/06/2021. The programme was conducted via Google Meet platform from 10.00 AM. Smt. Resmi R. Nair, Asst.Professor of Economics made the welcome speech. Sri.Anil Kumar R, HOD of Economics presided over the programme. The programme was inaugurated by our respected Principal Dr. Anuradha V. K. In her speech, the principal highlighted on the significance of observing such days like the ‘’Vayana Pakshacharanam”. A motivational lecture was delivered by Dr. Sabu, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Malayalam, University College Thiruvananthapuram. It was attended by all the faculty members, the non-teaching staff and the students. Sri. Sarjin, Asst. Professor of Economics proposed the vote of thanks. The programme came to an end at 11.30 AM.



 The Commerce Department arranged a competition “Sambhashana Veeran” via Google Meet platform on 19th June 2021. The participants were asked to speak at a length for 5 min on given topic. This programme was presided over by Dr.Rani L,HoD of Commerce, Shibu Kumar HoD of Malayalam Department adjudged the competition . Rahul J R BSc Physics, Ajith Anto BSc Maths were declared as the winners . A reading competition in Malayalam was conducted by the Department of Sociology on 20th & 21st June.It was coordinated by Sri Rajeev Thankappan, Asst Prof of Sociology. The competition was 2 conducted through whatsapp medium.The students were given instructions to post their audios of their choice with a time limit of 2.5 minutes. Varsha Mohan (MA S 1 ), Renjima Raj R B(BAS 4 ), Sruthi C B (BAS1) won Ist, IInd and III places respectively. 



 The department of Hindi, History and Political Science jointly organized a Quiz Competition on 22nd June 2021. Dr. Predeepa Kumari.R, Asst. Professor,Department of Hindi made the welcome speech, Pricipal Dr. V.K. Anuradha inaugurated the programme. Sri. Sameer,S, Asst. Professor Department of Political Science provided the guidelines of the competition. Dr Joy B Asst. Professor, Department of History was the Quiz Master. There were four teams in all for the competition. The first prize was bagged by Jinju and Abhijith of Physics department.




Department of Sociology organized a literary competition on the topic “Malayalam Short story: an online review” on 21st and 23rd of June. It was coordinated by Dr Jyothi S Nair, HoD of Sociology. A pdf file of Malayalam Short stories gathered from SCERT was provided to the students in the official whatsapp group. They were asked to prepare an appreciation of the story they liked the most in 5 to 10 sentences. The review was posted in the official whatsapp group so that every student had an opportunity to read and evaluate it. There was an enthusiastic response from students, both as reviewers as well as readers. From the entries, on the bases of proficiency in language, comprehensiveness in themes and the connectivity established between fiction and social life, Renjima Rajan R. B BA S4, Varsha Mohan MA S2, Aleena Alfred BA S2 got Ist, IInd and III places respectively. 



 The Department of Sociology conducted a competition “Vaamozhi Pazhamozhi, Puthumozhi” on 25 June. The Department faculty Dr ChitraS Nair, Asst Prof gave an introduction to the programme. The student faculties and non-teaching staff of the college were encouraged to send in their written entries on the traditional colloquial usages they have come across citing examples or life instances. The winners are- Ajith J Anto 1 St , Uthara LH 2nd Varsha Mohan3rd and the Consolation prize went to- Shruthi CB, Anju R G, Aleena Alfred. The winner from the non teaching staff is Mrs.Leni Kumari - UD Typist.



 The Department of Sociology conducted an online talk on the topic “The Importance of Reading Habit among college students” on July 7th via Google Meet platform. It began at 11am under the leadership of Shri Rexen Jacob, Assistant professor, Sociology. The topic was presented by Dr S R Jayasree, Professor, Dept of Hindi, University of Kerala. Welcome speech was done by Sri Rexen Jacob. Felicitations were extended by the faculties of various departments. The HoD in charge of sociology Dr Chitra S Nair presided over the function. Dr S R Jayasree , delivered a thought provoking and inspirational speech. The interactive session was so wonderful and the program came to an end with the vote of thanks delivered by Yamuna PS final year BA sociology student. "SPOTTING YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE" was the programme organized by Dr Aruna, Assistant Professor of Sociology on 25th July 2021. Students were encouraged to quote their favorite statement, dialogue, sentence etc. from a book, mention that particular book and author and post the same in the official whatsapp group. The winner was Aparna SA MA S4 and the consolation prize went to Vignesh N S BA S2 and Lakshmi S MA S2. 'Angane njanum ezhuthy oru Haiku' was initiated by Dr Krishna S, Asst Prof of Sociology. The students were encouraged to write Haiku poems on the theme ‘covid pandemic’. Prizes were declared for the best English and malayalam poem. The programme was initiated on 04 July and concluded on 05th July. Winners of the programme were:- Shruthi.C.B BA S2 Sociology from english category and Gayathri Krishnan ,BAS5 Sociology from malayalam category. 




On 25 June 2021 the Literary Club conducted an online Intercollegiate English Essay Writing Competition for PG and UG students on the topic “Youth and Covid-19: Resuscitation and Resurrection.” Cash prizes were offered for the winners. Students from various colleges actively participated in the competition. Among the entries Manjima M S of NSS College Nilamel won the first prize. Shahanaz A from Achutha Menon Government College Thrissur got the second prize and Anne Joseph of Mercy College Palakkad secured the third prize.




A lecture was organized on the topic "Knowledge acquisition and Vision: Mission ahead for Social Justice". Sri. Sadiqali, Asst Professor 0f Sociology delivered the lecture on June 28, 6.30 pm. It was an eye opener for all. All the participants shared their experiences in this session. It came to an end at 08 pm. 4 As a homage to Shri Vaikkam Muhammad Basheer, the famous Malayalam writer on ‘Basheer dinam’ a lecture was delivered by Dr. Jayakumar, the state award winner among the Govt employees in the PWD category and Asst.prof. of malayalam. He touched upon the specialities of Basheer literature. It was an awe-inspiring and absorbing speech. This outstanding talk was delivered by Dr.Leena, HoD of English. In the speech she expressed a wish to look forward to a responsible society of great communicative skills and sensitive thoughts through the world of books. On 26th June the college organized a special lecture on reading via Google Meet platform. Smt. Abheeshtanadh, Asst.Prof of English, was the speaker. She rendered the poem of Kunjunnimash and as a good reader and listener, recollected her valuable memories and encouraged the listeners to read and to grow. 




 The Human Library is an innovative concept by the Women's Study Unit as part of the reading campaign. In this library, there are ‘living books’ that attract visitors with stories and conversations. State Library Council Secretary Shri. V. K. Madhu officially inaugurated the Human Library on June 19, the Reading Day. The college Principal Dr Anuradha V. K. presided over the function which was held on Google Meet at 2.30 pm on the same day. WSU Convener Dr Chitra S Nair introduced the concept. 



WSU Student coordinators led the program. WSU members, faculty and non-faculty and guests from other colleges and universities attended. The teachers and students of the college participated in the Online reading group - Online Vayanakkoottam- conducted at 5 pm on the reading day. There was a presentation of creative works along with the sharing of reading experiences. The event ended at 6.45 p.m. Literary reading was also organized as part of the "Your Choice Our Voice" program. Students and teachers presented famous literary works as audio records to their peers. The audio library contained a wide variety of items, including poems, stories, and novels. 5 On 20th June a special talk was organized by the college on reading experience via Google Meet platform.


 

Under the auspices of the NSS unit and the Dept. of Malayalam diverse programmes were arranged. viz appreciation of books, discussions and speeches on literature. The programmes were guided by Dr. Jayakumar and Dr. Aruna, the NSS coordinators.





The concluding session of the programe was held on 07th July 2021 at 5.0 Clock. As part of the concluding session a cultural and intellectual programme was organized by ensuring the participation of the teaching and the non-teaching staff and their family members and the student community. The Department of Commerce, Economics, English, Hindi, History, Mathematics, Physical Education, Physics, Political Science, Sociology and Statistics conceived this programme. It was an awesome session. Dr. Predeepa Kumari R, Asst. Prof. and HoD of Hindi presided the session. The Principal, Dr. Anuradha V.K inaugurated the session with a message and also rendering an awesome song. Different types of cultural programs and intellectual programmes were also held. This session was a really interesting one and everyone took part in it wholeheartedly and enthusiastically. The programme came to an end at 8.00 clock. 8/07/2021
